New Chamber President, Vice President Announced

Simon Arnold will be the new President of the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce, it was announced this week. Sheryl Mateni will be the new Vice President.

Mr Arnold takes over from outgoing President Peter Steel. His company, arnold.co.nz, specialises in commercialising industrial innovation. Prior to this, following a career in the Public Service, he was Chief Executive of New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation and Policy and Strategy Advisor to Prime Minister Jenny Shipley.

Mr Arnold has been a Board Member of the Chamber since 2001, serving as Vice President over the past two years. He was also acting CEO of the Chamber for a period in 2000.

Sheryl Mateni is Managing Director of Strait Shipping, a high profile Wellington shipping company which has won several distinctions, including a Wellington Regional Business Gold Award. Sheryl joined the Chamber Board in 2002.

In doing so, I would also like to offer our great thanks and appreciation to Peter Steel for his energetic and engaging leadership over the past couple of years” said Chamber Chief Executive Philip Lewin.
