5,000 Bcrt T-Shirts Sell On First Day In Store

The Glassons Breast Cancer Research Trust T-shirts hit record figures on their first day in stores yesterday with a staggering 5,000 sold throughout the country.

According to Glassons Group Managing Director, Cliff Kinraid, it was an unprecedented response and double the number sold on the first day last year.

"It's a phenomenal response and we're naturally delighted," says Mr Kinraid.

"It means we've already raised $50,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Trust and the campaign has only just begun."

The popularity of the t-shirts, which feature six unique designs from the country's top designers, has even exceeded Glassons' expectations.

"We produced quantities of t-shirts sized 8 to 18 based on last year's size curve ratios but with such a huge demand we're consequently running low on some sizes - particularly some of the larger size range," explains Mr Kinraid.

"We are moving quickly to update our stock accordingly and can assure customers that we will have more larger sizes available in the next few days."

Karen Walker, Zambesi, Trelise Cooper, Huffer, Tanya Carlson and Kate Sylvester joined forces to create this year's designs - and at just $29.95 a t-shirt, New Zealand women are keen for the rare opportunity to purchase an affordable designer piece.

Glassons donate $10 from every sale to Breast Cancer Research Trust - last year raising over $500,000 for the charity and enabling them to appoint a full time BCRT research fellow at the University of Auckland Medical School.

New Zealand has one of the world's highest breast cancer rates with the disease affecting one in 10 women and claiming 600 lives every year.
