Motoring Excellence Awards For Journalism Safety

Motoring Excellence Awards For Journalism Safety And The Environment Named

Three more AA Motoring Excellence Awards have been announced at a black tie function at the Langham Hotel in Auckland this evening.

The Deloitte Excellence in Motoring Journalism Award has been presented to Dave Moore. Dave is Motoring Editor for the Christchurch Press and Wellington's Dominion Post. He is one of the most respected motoring journalists in New Zealand. Dave is a very worthy recipient of the inaugural Motoring Excellence Award in this category.

Vehicle safety is becoming increasingly important in the purchasing decision of many consumers and the AA Motoring Excellence Awards seeks to recognise this through the GE Money Excellence in Safety Award. The Award is based on the global independent New Car Assessment Program or NCAP and the inaugural winner is two versions of the same vehicle - the Subaru Legacy 3.O R and Outback 3.O R Wagon.

Another aspect of motoring that is growing in importance is environmental impact. To recognise this, the Vodafone Environment Excellence Award has gone to the Toyota Prius Hybrid. The selection of the Prius was based on performance in the Energy-wise rally held in November 2004.

Still to come, an AA Motoring Excellence Award for outstanding contribution to motoring in New Zealand, and the Supreme AA Motoring Excellence Award winner.
