New Director Appointed At Building Research

New Director Appointed To The Board Of Building Research

Building Research has announced the appointment of Mr Stuart Munro to their Board, effective immediately. Mr Munro was nominated to the Board by Business New Zealand.

Mr Munro is the Chief Executive of Carters, a subsidiary of publicly listed company Carter Holt Harvey. Mr Munro is based at Carters national office in Tamaki, Auckland.

Stuart Kendon, the Building Research Board Chairman said “the appointment of a Director of the calibre of Stuart brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Board. He has significant knowledge of the building industry and we are delighted to have secured his services as a Director”.

Mr Munro has been Carters’ Chief Executive for the past 18 months. Prior to being appointed Chief Executive, Stuart worked as their Financial Planning Manager for one year, Southern Regional Manager for three years, Marketing and Procurement Manager and Auckland Operations Manager for a total of two years.

As Chief Executive Stuart is responsible for leading the organisation which has a staff of over 1,200. Before joining Carters in July 1996, Stuart was the Financial Controller and Company Secretary of Dairy Meats NZ Ltd.

Stuart has an Associate Chartered Accountants qualification as well as an Executive MBA from Massey University. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He is also a Director of the New Zealand Building Industry Federation.

Stuart’s interests include water sports, rugby, and playing tennis and golf. He lives in Blockhouse Bay, Auckland, with his wife Kim and their two boys.

Building Research is an independent entity with a primary role of investment in research, technology transfer and scholarship activities. The Building Research Board is drawn widely from the building and construction sector, comprising nominees of the Property Council of New Zealand, Building Industry Federation, Registered Master Builders’ Federation, Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand, New Zealand Contractors’ Federation, Local Government New Zealand, Business New Zealand, New Zealand Institute of Architects, Housing New Zealand Corporation and New Zealand Building Subcontractors’ Federation. The Board is responsible for determining how the Building Research Levy funds are invested.
