Official Lions Superstore Opens

The Official Superstore of the 2005 Lions Tour of New Zealand has opened in the Viaduct Harbour, Auckland. The 300 Square Metre Superstore located in the heart of Auckland’s nightlife and Tourist destinations will be a mecca for all travelling Lions Fans – an Auckland must visit second only to Eden Park in the ‘must must visit’ stakes.

By the commencement of the tour in early June, the store will host a huge range of Officially Licensed Lions branded products, from the ever present adidas red replica jersey to Jesters Hats, Kilts, Flags, scarves, bandanas & even, it is rumoured, a Lions Hawaiian Shirt. Of course, the Store is not totally Red – there are some White, Navy & Green Products, some more red, a good representation of Black Stuff and even a smidgen of Gold!

Merchandise Superstores have become one of the focal points of the World’s great sporting events, with the Olympics, Rugby World Cup, Football World Cup, Formula One & Golf Majors all now having a Flagship Store to showcase their event’s range of goods. The Lions Tour is the second largest event in the worldwide rugby calendar, only marginally in the shadow of the Rugby World Cup, and it is anticipated there will be more than 40,000 visit the Lions Superstores in the five months they will be open.

The Lions have long planned the opening of Superstores and it is hoped they will contribute considerably to the Lions fans ability to create a sea of red wherever they go.

The Auckland Superstore will be open until the end of August and there will also be Superstores in Cathedral Square, Christchurch & outside Te Papa in Wellington, which will be opening closer to the tour.
