Stuff.co.nz Readership Soars To 1m Unique Viewers

Stuff.co.nz, the news website for Fairfax New Zealand, reached a major readership milestone in July 2005, recording 1 million unique viewers for the first time in the website’s history.

The latest Nielsen/NetRatings Market Intelligence results confirm the increasing popularity of the award-winning website both domestically and internationally said Fiona Reid, General Manager of Fairfax Interactive. “Our readers love the depth and breadth of content Stuff consistently delivers, particularly the fantastic regional coverage we bring together from Fairfax’s stable of daily and community newspapers”.

The breakthrough readership figures coincide with the 5th-year anniversary of Stuff.co.nz, which was launched in July 2000 by Independent Newspapers Limited. In its first ever month the website received 120,000 unique viewers – site traffic has since increased 736%.

Kristine Garcia, News Editor of Stuff.co.nz, said: “We’re thrilled to have broken the 1 million viewer mark. We have undergone several editorial and technical initiatives in recent months and it’s gratifying to see these help broaden the site’s readership base.

Stuff.co.nz this year also received wide industry recognition, winning Website of the Year at the Qantas Media Awards and the NetGuide award for Best News Website – the third successive year this particular award has been won by Stuff.co.nz.

Stuff.co.nz in July reached a record 1,003,048 total unique viewers and 19,092,409 page impressions.
