TV One & TV2 Say They Are Most Popular Channels

TVNZ's General Manager of Programming, Annemarie Duff, says TV ONE and TV2 are clearly New Zealand's most popular television channels.

She says that while it is correct that TV 3 has had one good week, TV ONE is the clear leader in the total audience (5 years + ) and TV2 is the leader with the difficult to reach younger viewers (5 - 14, 15 - 29 and 15 – 39).

"TV3 has had a good week, but it's not every week that they will have a 2 hour final of CSI and an All Black Test to help them out," she says.

"TV ONE and TV2 are leading in all of the female demographics. And in the key commercial demographic of Household Shoppers, TV ONE achieved a convincing lead with a 39 share compared to TV3's 23 share."

Annemarie Duff says TVNZ's extremely strong programming – both local and international - continues to underpin the channels' popularity.

TVNZ broadcasts nine out of the top ten series and 24 out of the top 25.*

"We don't underestimate the competitive environment, but we are very happy with our performance."
