Air New Zealand Fashion Week Venue Gets An Extreme Makeover!

Air New Zealand Fashion Week has never looked so good. Forget fabulous frocks and magnificent models, Telco Asset Management has re-vamped the venue with the ultimate interior fit out.

New Zealand’s creative talent and design expertise is always on show on the catwalks of Fashion Week. But this year, the unique character of New Zealand’s culture and heritage will be evident from the moment you walk through the doors of Air New Zealand Fashion Week due to the daring and determination of the design talent at Telco Asset Management.

Telco Asset Management has designed a unique sensory experience within the confines of the former America’s Cup boatsheds. Delegates and designer’s guests will be treated to an interior theme that evokes all the drama and excitement associated with fashion and the history and values of New Zealand culture from the indigenous to the outrageous.

“The concept for the design is set to show the event on a grand scale,” says Telco Interior Design Manager, Shelley McRae. “It is infused with the character and spirit of New Zealand and our heritage as a bi-cultural nation.”

Arriving at the Halsey Street location visitors to the collections will be lured into a giant Hinaki net which leads into a huge Kete. Caught in the Kete is a sample of the bounty of NZ fashion. Visitors will be enticed through to the Exhibition area which features the best of New Zealand fashion, accessories and lifestyle products and then beyond to the three show venues.

Among the features are unique ceiling sculptures and in the newly christened Chandelier Room, sixteen stunning examples of this highly fashionable lighting feature, including one valued at around $60,000.00 will bathe VIP’s and delegates with a flattering glow in one of the hosting areas.

“Telco is bringing a whole new dimension to Air New Zealand Fashion Week and we are thrilled to have their design expertise on display,” says Pieter Stewart Managing Director of Fashion Week.

“Our international VIPs, buyers and media will see New Zealand fashion showcased in an environment they would never see anywhere else on the world stage.”

Telco’s vision is to provide customers with ‘a new place and a new space for work” and Air New Zealand Fashion Week is proving an ideal case study.

Shelley McRae approached the Fashion Week organisers at the beginning of the year with her vision for the event. Since then it’s been a case of sourcing suppliers who share her vision from furniture to fishing net.

Telco will start assembling their gigantic fit out across over 4000 square metres of the Halsey Street venue from October 10th.
The project is an ambitious one but an ideal opportunity to tantalise the design and fashion community with what can be achieved with the right creative vision.

McRae will involve 10 staff and around 1000 hours of preparation for the project which she sees as at the cutting edge of what commercial interior design is all about.

“Every space has its challenges, this one is just on a grander scale altogether.”
