KPMG Partner Wins Young Accountant 2005

KPMG Partner Wins Young Accountant 2005

KPMG partner, Matt Prichard, aged 33 years has been named Young Chartered Accountant of the Year 2005.

The prestigious award, which is sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand (ICANZ), was presented to Mr Prichard at a special gala dinner in Wellington last night.

KPMG Chairman Alan Isaac says he is delighted that Mr Prichard’s expertise and innovation have been recognised by the industry. “Matt Prichard has won the most prestigious award for young accountants in New Zealand and our clients have the benefit of being able to take advantage of his considerable skill base. Here at KPMG we are immensely proud of his achievements.”

Mr Prichard joined KPMG in 1994, quickly rising to senior management roles, both locally and internationally, before becoming a partner in 2004. He is now based at KPMG’s Auckland office where he has been extremely successful in developing KPMG’s international financial reporting standards (IFRS) services to clients.

This has involved building a team of highly skilled specialists within KPMG and communicating the IFRS services effectively to the firm’s internal staff, and its large external client base.

During 2004, Mr Prichard spearheaded presentations on the challenges of transitioning to IFRS to more than 60 New Zealand organisations, including some of New Zealand’s largest listed companies. These highly successful presentations have been regarded by many as enhancing New Zealand’s readiness for the conversion to international financial reporting.

Mr Prichard is also a member of the NZIFRS (New Zealand International Financial Reporting Standards) Conversion Working Group.

Mr Prichard said that he is proud to have been recognised in this way by his peers “it is a great honour and I feel that it is a real reflection of the quality of work that the whole of KPMG performs, not just myself.”

Matt is the second KPMG partner to win the award in its 15 year history.
