Top Hyundai award for new dealer

After just over 18 months in business, Wings and Wheels Hyundai in Taupo has been named Hyundai Dealer of the Year 2005.

Dealer Principal Rick Cooper has collected the award at a conference of all New Zealand Hyundai dealers.

“This is a remarkable achievement for Rick and his team at Wings and Wheels,” commented the Managing Director of Hyundai Automotive New Zealand Philip Eustace.

“In just a year and a half the dealership and everyone involved with it have done an outstanding job for themselves and Hyundai.”

Mr Cooper was surprised by the accolade.

“I never expected anything like this so soon after starting the dealership.

“I’m absolutely delighted for my team in Taupo, they’ve all worked exceedingly hard to get us to where we are today.

Mr Eustace explained the Dealer of the Year Award looks far beyond sales results in its scope.

“This award recognises the dealership which has promoted and supported the brand
to the maximum, in all areas of its business,” he said.

“It’s not an easy award to win …we consider everything from phone answering to advertising, servicing to accounts.

“Rick and all the Taupo staff can be very proud of their achievement,” Mr Eustace added.

Last year the dealership won an Excellence category in the awards.

This year one of those accolades went to Gary Cockram Hyundai in Christchurch for the second year running, and the dealership also won a staff-choice award for the dealer who has the best relationship with H.O. staff, chosen by staff of Hyundai Automotive New Zealand head office.

Other Excellence Awards went to North Harbour Hyundai at Takapuna and John Bradley Hyundai in Timaru.
