New North Island Appointment for Blakely Pacific (NZ) Limited

Forestry company Blakely Pacific (NZ) Limited has appointed Steve Riddall to the role of North Island Forest and Marketing Manager.

Steve Riddall brings a wealth of forestry and related experience to the role, including an employment history with leading companies Carter Holt Harvey, Silva Forest Products, Kiwi Forest Management, Fletcher Challenge Forests and Rayonier New Zealand.

Commenting on the new appointment, Acting Managing Director Andrew Cocking said that Blakely Pacific was very pleased to have an appointee of the calibre of Steve Riddall.

“Steve brings an extensive range of experience to the role and this level of knowledge is of immense value to a company such as Blakely Pacific. We are very pleased to welcome him on board. He will manage the North Island operation from our offices in Tauranga.

One of Steve Riddall's first duties in his new role was to welcome Blakely Pacific's purpose built ro-ro (roll-on roll-off) barge “Skookum”. Built in Whangarei for Blakely Pacific, the Skookum will operate from Mount Maunganui to Pane Pane on Matakana Island where the company has forest operations.

Blakely Pacific (NZ) Limited is a New Zealand forestry company with its historic roots in the Northwest of the United States. The company's head office is located in Seattle. In New Zealand, the main office is situated in Christchurch, and there are three regional offices – in Tauranga, Geraldine and Timaru.

In New Zealand, Blakely Pacific owns or manages a total of 27,472 hectares of which 4005 hectares is located in the North Island and 23,467 are in the South Island. In addition to fast growing Radiata Pine, Blakely Pacific also grows Eucalyptus and Douglas Fir and also Macrocarpa, Luisitanica, Ponderosa and Corsican Pine, Cedar and Larch. All of Blakely Pacific's forests are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
