Baycorp Advantage Appoints New Zealand Country Director

Australia and New Zealand’s leading credit bureau and business intelligence provider Baycorp Advantage has appointed John Roberts to head its New Zealand business.

Mr Roberts joins Baycorp Advantage from MasterCard International, where he was Vice President of International Card Services, representing all MasterCard’s relationships in New Zealand.

John Roberts was a founding partner and chairman of Rialto Advertising Limited, one of New Zealand’s most successful integrated communication companies in the 1990s. He also held the role of CEO with Saatchi & Saatchi in New Zealand, and was chief executive officer and regional director for Saatchi & Saatchi Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.

Baycorp Advantage Managing Director Andrew Want said Mr Roberts’ appointment completed Baycorp Advantage’s strategy to expand on the capability of its leadership group to support the company’s growth strategy.

“John’s appointment is an important component of our growth plans for the Information Services and Solutions business in the New Zealand market,” Mr Want said.

“In the New Zealand market, where the Baycorp brand has such a tremendous profile and history, John will provide the ongoing senior leadership on the ground needed to support the ambitious plans we have for the Group.

“John has more than 25 years business leadership experience primarily in communications, customer and consumer focus areas, and is an accomplished builder of business relationships.

“He will also bring an added ‘kiwi’ perspective to our business and to the leadership group, which will be invaluable in his work leading the development of our New Zealand-specific strategy and business plan to maximise Baycorp Advantage’s opportunities in the unique New Zealand market.”

Mr Roberts is a graduate of the University of Auckland - Business Marketing School, and a member of the NZ Institute of Directors. He is also Chairman of The Centre for Applied Cross Cultural Research, a division of Victoria University, with the mission of identifying cultural issues facing the New Zealand workforce.

He will commence as New Zealand Country Director on 20 February 2006.
