Cyclone Larry Statement

The following statement can be used pleased quote Brent Thomas Retail Director

Following news of Cyclone Larry we have initiated our standard disaster recovery plan. We have run reports and are aware of 24 passengers either in the area or about to go in the next four days. These customers are currently being contacted by their local House of Travel outlet to see what they wish to do.

A summary is as follows:
Please note a folder relates to a booking, these folders are either one or two people travelling
Auckland 2 folders = 2 couples - one decided to go to Fiji, the other couple fly out next week and are waiting to see what happens
Whangarei 2 folders = continuing with plans
Ashburton 1 folder = continuing with plans
Hamilton 1 folder = transferred holiday to Rarotonga
Nelson 1 folder = cancelled no further plans at this stage
Rotorua 1 folder = still trying to contact
Q'town 1 folder = still trying to contact
CHC 1 folder = just flights no contact details
Tauranga 2 folders = three people they are travelling via Sydney for a few days so we will keep in contact with them and they will decide nearer the time
Blenheim 1 folder (still trying to contact)

We have been in contact with a number of our hotels in the effected areas and it is business as usual.

We will continue to monitor the situation in the next few days and are in regular contact with passengers travelling in the near future as more information comes to hand.

While House of Travel is up 20% for the year across all destinations we are fortunate that there are limited numbers of people travelling to this area in Australia as it is low season due to it being the rainy/cyclone season.
