Conference Interest High in New Gisborne Hotel

PRESS RELEASE

Conference Interest High
in New Gisborne Hotel

Gisborne, New Zealand, 28 March 2006: Conference bookings are steadily flowing in for Gisborne’s new luxury hotel which is due to open in early June.

Emerald Hotel will bring a much needed luxury hotel conferencing base to the city and its quality of accommodation and conference facilities are unrivalled in the region.

“The arrival of Emerald Hotel is long overdue, not only in Gisborne but the entire region and will attract the lucrative conference and incentive market to the city. Presently this market lies untapped because of the lack of suitable infrastructure,” says Grant Radovanovich, Emerald Hotel sales & marketing manager. “Conference groups are always looking for somewhere new to conference and Gisborne offers just that.”

Conferences from Auckland, Wellington and Gisborne have already confirmed bookings right through until March 2007, ranging in size from 20 pax up to 140 pax. “It’s very pleasing to have these bookings secured and we’re also working on quite a few more. Word is only just beginning to get out about the hotel so I expect there will be even more bookings flowing in over the next few months,” Grant says.

There are three conference rooms – which can be opened up to one large room – that can seat up to 250 people, as well as an adjoining historic theatre, perfect for private movie screenings, product launches, parties and dinners.

The new hotel is located right in the city centre overlooking the river, marina and sea. It will have 62 rooms – studio, executive and twin executive suites – as well four executive apartments and two penthouses.

Emerald Hotel is wholly New Zealand owned and is looking forward to distinguishing itself as a unique New Zealand owned and operated hotel. “Our focus will be on quality and a unique New Zealand experience, both in the hotel and with sightseeing around the region,” Grant says.
