Dallow dominates finals for hospitality Oscars

Dallow dominates finalist nominations for Auckland’s hospitality Oscars

News release from Chapel Bistro and Bar
& Garnet Bar and Kitchen

Leading Auckland hospitality personality Luke Dallow and two of his instantly recognisable dining and drinking establishments have been nominated as finalists for the hospitality industry’s most prestigious awards… the Restaurant Association of New Zealand Lewisham Foundation Awards.

Chapel Bistro and Bar and Garnet Bar and Kitchen - both owned by Luke Dallow - have been recognised by fellow hospitality industry staff as two of the best venues in Auckland for having a quiet drink or great food in comfortable and relaxed surroundings. Unlike many restaurant and bar competitions, the Lewisham Foundation Awards are voted on solely by industry personnel… in effect getting an independent and respected nod “from those in the know.”

Chapel Bar and Bistro on the Corner of Ponsonby Road and Angelsea Street has been nominated as a finalist in the Outstanding Cocktail Experience category.

Meanwhile, Luke Dallow’s newest venture, Garnet Bar and Kitchen in Westend Road, Westmere, has been picked as one of the leading contenders in the Best Ambience and Style Emerging category – a sensational feat considering the stylish and casually sophisticated tapas-style bar has only been open less than a couple of months.

But there’s more… Garnet Bar and Kitchen co-owner and maitre d’ Nick Harding has been recognised for his dedication and passion to the hospitality scene – picking up a nomination for the Outstanding Wine Expertise category in the Lewisham Awards.

To cap off these incredible achievements, Luke Dallow has been selected as one of the four finalists in the hotly contested Outstanding Hospitality Personality of the Year category.

A humble and somewhat surprised Luke Dallow said the Lewisham Foundation Awards nominations were a reflection of the enormous amount of time and effort which had been dedicated into making Chapel Bistro and Bar and Garnet Bar and Kitchen Ponsonby and Westmere’s two premier dining and drinking destinations.

"To have been nominated for these awards is an achievement in itself, regardless of whether we win or not. My primary focus at both Chapel Bistro and Bar and Garnet Bar and Kitchen right from the outset has been to guarantee that customers are always satisfied. That’s why Chapel and Garnet both have got so many loyal customers… because people know they are going to have an experience which will exceed their expectations – from the food and drinks through to the service and settings. Being put forward for the Lewisham Foundation Awards is a bonus," said Luke proudly.

“These nominations for the Lewisham Foundation Awards confirm what Chapel and Garnet customers have known for quite some time... that Ponsonby and Westmere have two classy eating and drinking establishments which can match the best anywhere else in Auckland has to offer. Locals don’t have to go to the Viaduct Basin or Parnell to sample the best food and best service this great city has to offer… it’s all on the back doorstep for Ponsonby and Westmere folk,” Luke added.

Winners at the Lewisham Awards will be announced at a glamorous gala ceremony at SkyCity on May 28.
