Web surfers look to Eventfinder for Mother’s Day inspiration

People looking for something to take their Mum to on Mother’s Day are finding inspiration on Eventfinder. “We’ve had an enormous leap in the number of searches for Mother’s Day events,” said Michael Turner, Eventfinder’s CEO. “So many that we’ve put a link on the home page which takes people to a list of events on the days just around Mother’s Day.”

“The Comedy Festival gigs are proving the most popular, but there are plenty of other events going on around the country like The Food Show in Wellington, the Country Rock Festival in the Bay of Islands, and the MORE FM Airforce Overtures in Christchurch.”

“New Zealand Music Month is also getting into the spirit of Mother’s Day, with the Dominion Centenary Concert Band playing a Mother’s Musical Day in Auckland.”

EMI has released a Mother’s Day tribute album, “I Love Mum”, which it is advertising on Eventfinder in the weeks leading up to Mother’s Day.

EMI Music Marketing Manager, Thierry Pannetier, said that advertising on Eventfinder is a great fit for them. “People will be browsing Eventfinder looking for something to do with their family on Mother’s Day, so it’s a natural fit for us to advertise ‘I Love Mum’ on the site.”

“We liked the fact that we could block out the entire site so only our ad appears. It’s a really cost effective way of promoting awareness for ‘I Love Mum’ just at the time when it will have the most impact on people’s consciousness.”

Radio Live is also tapping into Eventfinder’s reach, featuring Michael Turner in a regular guest spot where he talks about coming events. “We like to mention the quirkier events out there instead of the big, well-known events” said Michael. “I mean, everyone knows that INXS is coming, but I bet you didn’t know about Sophie Gray’s Destitute Gourmet Demonstration in Stratford!”

“People can’t go if they don’t know, but we hope to change that by giving event organisers the chance to get their event in front of a motivated audience,” said Michael.
