Jasons Travel Media raises $15,000 for charity

18 May 2006

Jasons Travel Media raises $15,000 for children’s charity, The First Tee of New Zealand, with the No Place Like Home Charity Travel Auction

Jasons Travel Media recently raised over $15,000 for children’s charity The First Tee of New Zealand using on-line auction site Trade Me. “This was a first for Jasons Travel Media and demonstrates the new wave of opportunities that web-based sites offer,” says John Sandford, CEO, Jasons Travel Media.

“We are delighted with the results and also that the auction packages were so closely aligned to holidaying at home within New Zealand,” says John Sandford. “Through our own web-experience with Jasons Travel Channel ™ we are aware of the enormous opportunities on-line. The internet opens up not only new ways of doing business but even new ways of raising money for a good cause. The on-line auction is a far cry from the days of sausage sizzles and cake stalls.”

The auction ran for seven days with thousands of New Zealanders viewing the auction and holiday packages. Competition was strong as bidders were vying to win some of the best accommodation and activity packages that New Zealand has to offer. The No Place like Home Charity Travel Auction included over 94 travel and holiday packages – all donated by tourism accommodation, activity and transport companies who are clients of Jasons Travel Media’s comprehensive travel website, Jasons Travel Channel www.jasons.com.

Children's charity, The First Tee of New Zealand, operating under Kiwi Kids Lifeskills Trust, was delighted with the result of the auction. The funds will enable The First Tee to deliver its programme to a great number of children, teaching them important life skills and core values through the game of golf.

"94 items in total were auctioned and we are absolutely thrilled with the level of support from Jasons customers. The feedback we have received from bidders was extremely positive and we look forward to holding an even bigger auction next year"! says Julie Helson Marketing Manager of The First Tee of New Zealand

Jasons Travel Media clients were also pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to such a great cause that was raising money for The First Tee of New Zealand, while also promoting some of the great accommodation and activities that New Zealand has to offer domestic travellers.

“We are only too delighted to take part in this very worthwhile cause and commend Jasons for getting behind it,” Pat & Bernie Taylor, Grange Lodge, Auckland
