Talented professionals acknowledged in Hospitality Standards Institute scholarship programme

Dedicated hospitality industry professionals from across New Zealand have been named as worthy recipients in the inaugural Hospitality Standards Institute of New Zealand Career Scholarships programme. From Auckland to Invercargill, 24 talented individuals have been bestowed scholarships designed to further their skill-sets… and enhance their careers.

Covering five different categories - dependant on industry experience - the Hospitality Standards Institute's Career Scholarships programme was open to personnel across all sectors of the industry, including chefs, food and beverage staff, those working in the accommodation sector, teachers, tutors and assessors.

Congratulating the first batch of Career Scholarship recipients, Hospitality Standards Institute chief executive Steve Hanrahan said the enthusiasm and dedication contained in many of the application papers shone through.

"The judges analysing submissions for the Career Scholarships programme commented on how much passion came through in the numerous applications. This is extremely heartening for HSI – especially considering this is the first year the programme has been run," Mr Hanrahan said.

“It was also highly encouraging to see such a wide geographical spread among applicants, and the style of business they were applying from. The Career Scholarships programme has demonstrated that training is now widely recognised as a key driver for future growth of the hospitality industry throughout New Zealand,” Mr Hanrahan concluded.
