MTV head to help launch Plus SMS products worldwide

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND: Bill Roedy, President of MTV Networks International and Vice Chairman, MTV Networks, has joined the Plus SMS Limited Advisory Board.

The Advisory Board will work closely with the Board of Plus SMS to help drive and accelerate the growth of the business and achieve the listing of this operating subsidiary on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange.

The AIM listing will give Plus SMS Limited a prominent platform from which to launch its business throughout Europe and other global markets.

Chaired by Rob Hersov, founder of Sportal.com, and now vice chairman of NetJets Europe, the Advisory Board is also assisting management with progressing international partnerships and accelerating the development of the group’s business operations.

Group Chairman, Jim Bracknell, says Mr. Roedy’s presence on the Advisory Board will give added impetus to the launch of the company’s product range of vanity SMS numbers for marketing product brands as well as company names. Providing worldwide access, these individualised short codes also cover a wide range of generic names in the transportation, entertainment sports, special events and hospitality industries.

As President of MTV Networks International, Mr. Roedy oversees all of MTV Networks’ growing international multimedia business operations for the brands MTV: Music Television, Nickelodeon, VH1, VIVA, TMF: The Music Factory, Game One and Paramount Comedy. Collectively these brands provide the largest global network of localised TV channels and web sites targeting children, youth and adult audiences.

He was previously President, MTV/VH1 International, where he was the key architect of MTV’s successful localisation model emphasising decentralised business units. It was this pioneering strategy that led to the company’s rapid expansion to other regions such as the Asia Pacific, Latin America and Russia, among others.

Under his leadership, MTV Networks has developed and launched more uniquely programmed networks and web sites around the world than any other entertainment company, reaching an estimated one billion people. MTV is one of the Top 10 recognised consumer brands in the world, the world’s largest network of TV channels and web sites, a pop culture phenomenon and the No. 1 global music destination for youth on-air and online.
