All Qualmark® accommodation and tourism businesses undergo an independent and rigorous assessment to meet requirements and quality standards across a range of services. This includes categories such as environmental impact and community service, alongside hospitality standards and Hotel facilities. This Qualmark® status now officially recognises InterContinental Wellington as the Capital’s only five-star luxury hotel for both business and leisure travelers.

“This tourism industry recognition comes in the same year that InterContinental Hotels Group worldwide celebrates 60 years providing first-class accommodation and facilities to guests,” says David Shackleton, InterContinental Hotels Group’s Regional General Manager - New Zealand/South Pacific.

“It is a testament to the hard work, commitment and high standards from our 275 staff employed at InterContinental Wellington that we have achieved this milestone. It is also an acknowledgement to guests who have stayed with us and provided feedback as to how we can make their experience of our Hotel even better.”

“As one of the world’s prestigious international hotel brands, InterContinental Hotels Group’s eight hotels throughout New Zealand continue to be committed to delivering a high standard of service and experience to local and international guests. To that end, we have ensured that all our New Zealand hotels undergo a Qualmark® assessment. This sets important and necessary measurements and standards for the sector, which is recognised by operators and guests, and vital for the New Zealand tourism sector’s reputation.”

InterContinental Wellington offers 231 deluxe guest rooms including a range of superbly appointed suites and two exclusive InterContinental Club floors. Guests can choose from two restaurants and bars – including the award-winning Chameleon Restaurant; and the Emerge Health Club incorporating gymnasium, pool, spa, sauna, massage services and spa therapist. The Hotel offers some of Wellington’s finest meeting and banqueting facilities, including eight versatile function rooms. A limousine courtesy car service and valet car-parking go towards ensuring guests have a five-star experience.

The Five-star Hotel Qualmark® recognition continues InterContinental Wellington’s previous awards which include Best Business Hotel in New Zealand (2003/2004 and 2001/2002), and Chameleon Restaurants’ successive awards as New Zealand Restaurant of the Year 2001, 2002 and 2003.
