Modern Apprenticeships Success Acknowledged
The Council of Trade Unions is pleased with results of a survey of employees and employers out today showing a high level of satisfaction with the modern apprenticeships scheme.
"The CTU is committed to the modern apprenticeships scheme as we see it as vital to building the educational and skill base for a higher skill, higher value, and higher wage economy," CTU secretary Carol Beaumont said today.
"Today's survey results are very positive but don't come as a surprise - the scheme has attracted a high level of interest and commitment from both employers and employees since it was introduced in 2000."
"Unions will continue to actively progress initiatives that build a high-skill, high-value workforce, and while we welcome the growth in structured workplace learning we cannot as a country rest on our laurels. There needs to be greater investment in workplace learning to meet the needs of workers, employers and the economy."
"We will also continue to push for a more equitable uptake of modern apprenticeships, particularly from young women," said Carol Beaumont.
