Conference Bookings Flowing In

PRESS RELEASE
Conference Bookings Flowing In

Gisborne, 2 August 2006: Gisborne is on the brink of establishing itself as an exciting new conference and incentive destination with a new luxury hotel poised to open in a couple of weeks.

Emerald Hotel Gisborne is located in the heart of the city centre overlooking the river, marina and sea and has three conference rooms catering for up to 250 delegates. The hotel is well underway with its marketing campaign and secured some substantial conference and incentive bookings at a recent tradeshow.

The hotel exhibited for the first time at MEETINGS 2006 - New Zealand’s annual convention & incentive (C&I) tradeshow that promotes New Zealand exclusively as a C&I destination – along with more than 160 of the country’s finest suppliers of venues, products and services.

“It was well worth the trip to Christchurch. We booked four conferences at the show and have some other promising leads to follow-up, which I’m sure will result in more business,” says Grant Radovanovich, Emerald Hotel sales & marketing manager. “The rest of New Zealand is very excited that Gisborne is now a viable place to hold a conference.”

The two-day MEETINGS 2006 tradeshow was held at the Christchurch Convention Centre and is expected to result in more than $28 million worth of C&I business for New Zealand.

Emerald Hotel brings a much needed luxury hotel conferencing base to Gisborne and its quality of accommodation and conference facilities are unrivalled in the region.

“The arrival of Emerald Hotel is long overdue, not only in Gisborne but the entire region and will attract the lucrative conference and incentive market to the city. Presently this market lies untapped because of the lack of suitable infrastructure,” Grant says. “Conference groups are always looking for somewhere new to conference and Gisborne offers just that.”

The hotel has 62 rooms – studio, executive and twin executive suites – as well four executive apartments and two penthouses. The three conference rooms can be opened up to one large room and there’s an adjoining historic theatre, perfect for private movie screenings, product launches, parties and dinners.

Emerald Hotel is wholly New Zealand owned and is looking forward to distinguishing itself as a unique New Zealand owned and operated hotel.
