42 BELOW goes to the Dark side

MEDIA RELEASE

42 BELOW goes to the Dark side

The world’s most awarded vodka company reveals its darkest secret – Tahiti Dark Rum

Hot on the heels of Seven Tiki, the Pacific’s first super-premium white rum, 42 BELOW launches Tahiti Dark, the finest dark rum in the Southern Ocean.

Chief rum runner Geoff Ross was on a diving trip in Tahiti when he was handed a drink that banished the salt and the chill of the sea and warmed the cockles of his heart – a ration of local rum. It was yo-ho-ho indeed and Geoff knew he had to share this dark secret with the rest of the world.

Geoff undertook a further research mission to the islands, and discovered that the Tahitians have been producing rum for more than 100 years in the traditional French style of cognac – so they know what they’re doing. (This might also explain why so many sailors never left Tahiti and why Gauguin painted lying down in the shade with a tall drink.)

After some serious sampling by the 42 BELOW team of experts, the richest, smoothest rum on the planet is ready for the world.

Vodka University Professor Jacob Briars says, “Tahiti Dark is full-bodied, sensual and warm with a soft inviting aroma of seductive vanilla, the richness of burnt caramel and a hint of exotic tropical sunshine, limes and coconuts.”

Now you can try it for yourself – Tahiti Dark Rum is available now at all good liquor outlets throughout New Zealand. (Turn to the next page for our favourite way to enjoy it.)

About 42 BELOW
42 BELOW makes some of the planet’s finest super-premium spirits. The super-premium vodka company from the 42nd parallel was listed first place in the Deloitte Unlimited Fast 50, and was named the fastest-growing company in New Zealand.

42 BELOW Vodka, SOUTH Gin and Seven Tiki White Rum are made 42 degrees below the equator near a location that holds the benchmark for both air and water purity. 42 BELOW is the world’s most awarded vodka, and SOUTH Gin isn’t doing so badly either. The latest medal haul was at the 2006 World Spirit Awards (Monde Selection), where SOUTH Gin won the Grand Gold Medal with Palms and 42 BELOW Pure won the awards’ most ridiculously prestigious accolade, the International High Quality Trophy – the first Australasian brand ever to do so.

42 BELOW exports 65% of its vodka to 25 countries including the UK, US, France, Russia, Germany, Canada, Singapore, China, Japan and Dubai, and is served in more than 4,500 of the world’s best bars, including the Ritz in London, and the best restaurant on earth, El Bulli in Spain. Put quite simply, it rocks.
