Voting In Fonterra Elections Underway

Voting for the Fonterra Board of Directors' and Shareholders' Council elections opened today with voting packs being sent to all Fonterra shareholders.

This year there are five candidates standing for the three positions on the Board of Directors. The two incumbent Directors, Stuart Nattrass and John Wilson are re-standing, along with three other candidates, Gavin Faull, Barbara Kuriger and Colin Armer. In addition there is an election for two Shareholders' Councillors in Ward 23 Canterbury South.

This year there is no election for the Directors' Remuneration Committee and nine Shareholders' Council wards, as the candidates were all elected unopposed.

On-line secure voting is again available this year for both elections through Fencepost. Postal voting and fax voting can also be used.

Voting closes at 12 noon on Tuesday 10 October 2006 and results will be announced by the Board Chairman at the Annual Meeting in Invercargill on Wednesday 11 October 2006. All shareholders will be advised of the election results in a letter from the Board Chair.

Any queries regarding the election should be directed to the Returning Officer on the Election Hotline 0508 666 446.
