Auckland, 26 October 2006: Sealegs International Limited has today announced that it has been granted an Australian patent for aspects of its unique amphibious marine craft. The Sealegs Australian patent (number 2002359096) is valid for twenty years and is part of Sealegs intellectual property policy of protecting its amphibious boat technology in its major markets.
Sealegs CEO Mr David McKee Wright said “we have, and continue to invest in aggressively protecting our intellectual property which becomes more and more valuable as the market for amphibious boats grows and as we look towards licensing opportunities in the future.”
Sealegs received its first granted patent in the USA earlier this year, and it has further patents pending in the EU, North America, Asia and South Africa.
Last week Sealegs announced it had more than doubled revenue for the half year ending 30 September 2006. It reported six-monthly earnings of $2.6 million, up 118 % on the same period last year, and has also increased its full year sales forecast by 25% to $5 million.
