Ezibed.com Adds Dynamic Mapping

PRESS RELEASE 1st November 2006

Ezibed.com Adds Dynamic Mapping

Online accommodation website Ezibed.com launched its new dynamic mapping technology this week enabling customers more freedom to choose their last minute accommodation by location as well as rate and star rating.

The technology behind the Ezibed maps is powered by New Zealand start-up, ProjectX Technology (www.projectxtech.com) who also created mapping website, ZoomIn (www.zoomin.co.nz), and in conjunction with TradeMe built the smaps™ website (www.smaps.co.nz).

“Having this map technology on the Ezibed website is a significant improvement that will benefit our existing and potential customers”, says Gareth Pearce, Director for Ezibed.com.

“Customers need as much information as possible to simplify the booking process. Not only can customers compare all the accommodation in one area through the rates matrix, they can also see where all the accommodation within that area is, in relation to where they want to stay within the town or city. This is fantastic technology. This also gives us an edge over our competitors.”

Ezibed.com has over 430 New Zealand accommodation properties listed in over 60 New Zealand locations. Properties range from five star Auckland hotels to country lodges and cottages. Room rates displayed are usually much lower than their full rates as the website displays the next 28 days forward, therefore giving the customer the best available deal. Customers can also send an enquiry to accommodation properties if past 28 days.

“We want to be the number choice for people when they book accommodation”, says Pearce. “Fast and user friendly will make the difference.”

Ezibed.com has transformed itself in the past 7 months due to the continual feedback provided by both customers and suppliers.

“If we are told something that could work, and we like it, then we usually implement it”, says Pearce.

Dynamic mapping appears to be one step to making it easier for customers to book last minute accommodation, however Pearce comments that there is much more to do on the site to make it ‘the best accommodation site available to customers’.

“There is a lot of strong competition out there, so whatever you do has to be done better than anyone else. Providing an interactive experience for customers is essential.”
