Taste, Convenience Scores Golds for Salad Shakes

Taste and Convenience Scores Double Gold for Salad Shakes

A new gourmet salad that makes it really easy to eat on the run and stay healthy too has shaken its way to two gold medals at the recent Massey University Food Awards. Dashboard Diner’s new Salad Shakes - Greek Taverna impressed the judges with its café-quality taste and innovative grab and go packaging and was awarded first prize in two categories, FMCG Meal Solutions and the Crop & Food Research Fruit & Vegetable Award.

Salad Shakes - Greek Taverna makes it possible to magically mix a fresh gourmet salad in only a couple of shakes. The feta cheese, olives and sun-dried tomato sprinkles are packaged separately to the salad greens to ensure maximum freshness and flavour, and the balsamic & olive oil vinaigrette dressing is waiting to be shaken through the salad, from an open compartment at the bottom of the pack. All you need to do is empty the sprinkle sachets into the salad, pop the lid back on, and mix the dressing through by following the `Shake Me Babe’ instructions on the pack.

Judges for the Massey University Food Awards FMCG Meal Solutions category were won over by the trendy retro-cup packaging that is purposely designed to fit into the drink-holder of a car. They commented, “This is a great tasting product encouraging healthy salads in a fun and mobile form. There is nothing like this on the market and it’s likely to be a category creator.”

The judges for the Crop & Food Research Fruit & Vegetable Award also referred to the Salad Shakes - Greek Taverna as a category creating innovation and noted in their judges comments that the freshly prepared salad vegetables and condiments are café-quality, the innovative dressing dispenser has removed any risk of spilling the dressing, and the dressings contain no artificial flavours or additives.

Dashboard Diner Governing Director, Ashley Berrysmith says Salad Shakes were specifically created to help meet the growing demand for ready to eat healthy fresh meals that can be easily eaten on the run. He says, “Our ultimate aim is to help encourage healthy eating by providing convenient and nutritious grab and go meals that are comparable in quality and taste to any gourmet sit down meal. The gold medals show that Salad Shakes have achieved these aims and all we need to do now is extend their distribution through convenience stores and cafes.”
