Carobimages.com is set to become New Zealand’s prime source for world-class, creative photography and illustration. Launching early 2007, the site promotes and markets New Zealand photographers and illustrators to the creative industry, targeting advertising agencies, designers, publishers and press.

The site is currently open for photographers and illustrators who are keen to have their work represented. A simple online login allows them to upload images at their end however Carob offers their own services to upload the images as well. Once uploaded, Carob is able to screen the images for those that suit the enviably high standard of imagery required and photographers and illustrators then become represented by the agency at no cost.

Carob Images will market and advertise the site to the advertising industry early next year however for now, they are concentrating on establishing a strong network of our most celebrated photographers but also, those up and coming photographers and illustrators who want a foot in the door.

The brainchild of photographer/writer and Marketing Advisor Maria Bevan, Carob Images intent is to become an exciting medium for the artists it represents. The site will actively promote the artists through various media including an annual themed book, various other collateral and the possibility of a Carob Exhibition each year.

“Sourcing campaign ready images from New Zealand photographers and illustrators can often be a chore. The current image bank market dictates that much of our really creative stock comes from overseas”, says Maria. “Inherently the costs are therefore higher and intuitively, we are unable to support our most skilled photographers”.

“Carob Images will act as an agent for our artists, determining to proactively promote them as individual entities rather than as part of one agency.”

The site has to date received great interest and the response has been that the intent of Carob Images provides a much needed forum for promoting photographers and illustrators throughout Australasia and the world. Likewise for the advertising industry, Carob Images will be a fantastic source of great imagery for their advertising and design needs.

The new site, engineered by Christchurch-based Web designers, 1 Group, provides essential easy navigation, a high spec back end and the ability to purchase both Rights Managed and Royalty free imagery.

The newly launched site is open for business at www.carobimages.com from early 2007 however any photographers and illustrators are welcome to submit a portfolio of images now.
