Compac on Track for Record Year
Technology innovation company Compac Sorting
Equipment is on track for a
record year, with a forecast
of $45m in global sales to June 07.
This marks an 80%
increase over the past two years and is a result
of
Compac's long term focus on technology.
Compac
recently was awarded a Technology Commendation for its
innovative
technology, used to improve efficiencies in
fruit and vegetable packing.
Compac designs and
manufactures high speed sorting, grading and
packing
systems for fruit and vegetables and its
technology is regarded as a world
leader. It sorts by
weight, size, blemish, shape, colour and density as
well
as for sugar levels or internal defect.
Bob Shaw, Compac
General Manager, said local sales have been
significant
this year particularly with the growth and
uptake of technology in the
kiwifruit industry.
Mr
Shaw says growth is also coming through the company's
sustained effort
into expanding its markets in North and
South America as well as through
partnerships in Europe
and Asia.
Compac operates in over 22 countries, with
over 100 staff in New Zealand and
a similar number
globally.
