Jingle all the way to Auckland this Christmas

Media Release

Jingle all the way to Auckland this Christmas

Auckland 19 December 2006: Wotif.com (www.wotif.com) Australasia’s leading accommodation website, revealed today that Auckland has come in first place on the list of the most popular kiwi destinations for Wotif.com customers this Christmas*.

While the traditional tourist destinations of Queenstown, Taupo, Rotorua and Bay of Islands all appeared on the list, it seems that many people are opting for ity-based getaways this Christmas, with Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington appearing in the top ten kiwi destinations.

Graeme Wood, Wotif.com CEO and Managing director, commented, “While traditionally holidaymakers head to the coastal areas over Christmas, city hotels and apartments have lower than usual occupancy levels and, as a consequence, offer great deals that are snapped up by savvy consumers.

“Wotif.com customers know that there are great accommodation deals to be found, even in busy times such as Christmas, if they are prepared to go where the deals take them.”

Wotif.com NZ Manager Tania Witheford says there has been a lot of activity on the Wotif.com site over this period with travellers keen to secure great deals in New Zealand.

“This list not only represents local New Zealand travellers snapping up Wotif.com’s great deals but also Kiwi’s coming home for the holidays and Australian and other international travellers taking advantage of the great deals for a kiwi Christmas,” she said.

Top Ten Kiwi Destinations:
1. Auckland
2. Christchurch
3. Queenstown
4. Rotorua
5. Wellington
6. Bay of Islands
7. Tauranga
8. Te Anau
