Kiwi Ingenuity Secures Aussie Dollars

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kiwi Ingenuity Secures Aussie Dollars

(New Plymouth, New Zealand)--- Freeparking now gives you the opportunity to tap into the Australian market through .au domains. No longer do Kiwis have to sit back and watch Aussies make money from afar. With an Australian domain you can get up close and personal with Australian consumers 24/7.

With the popularity of online businesses, there’s not only the opportunity to expand your reach nationally to New Zealanders but also across the ditch to Australia and beyond. You probably know about the benefits of having multiple domain names (kiwi, kiwibird, newzealandkiwi) and extensions (.co.nz, .com, .net) to secure your company’s brand identity, but what about targeting Australia with a .com.au or .net.au?

What are the benefits of having an Australian domain? A local extension adds a sense of trust and locality to your business and will enable you to start gaining a piece of the lucrative Australian market. Australia’s market is 5x that of New Zealand with a populations upwards of 20 million that share similar cultural and business environments. In addition, according to New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, Australia is developing bi-lateral trade agreements with countries such as Thailand, Malaysia and the US making for an attractive stepping stone to other markets as well.

“For New Zealand entrepreneurs who have toyed with the idea of expanding internationally, Australia is a great place to start,” stated Freeparking COO Sean Weekes. “The advantage lies in being online. You can simply redirect your Australian domain to your New Zealand website and start your campaign to the Australian market. For the cost of a domain name your marketing has begun and it’s a small price to pay to test the waters of expansion.”

So how do you get started? In order to purchase an Australian domain name you must be registered to trade in Australia. This means you need to apply for an Australian Business Number (ABN) at www.abr.gov.au. Once your ABN is received you can secure your Australian domain name. There are a couple of things to note: (1) you may only register a domain that is an exact match, acronym, abbreviation or is closely and substantially associated with your company; and (2) you may not sell an Australian domain or transfer it to another registrant.

Freeparking is now offering Australian domains. Domains with .com.au and .net.au can be registered online at www.freeparking.co.nz. Simply click on the domains button and you can choose from a variety of extensions including New Zealand, Global and other countries such as Australia and the UK. Once you’ve checked to see that your name is available in the Australian extension, you will be asked for your ABN and be able to register your domain. Australian domain names are secured for 2 years at $79.90 ($3.33/mo) and like all domains at Freeparking come with a free single page site using Freeparking’s template design tool and free URL redirection.

Do your homework and see if an Australian domain will help extend the reach of your brand and multiply the dollars in your pocket. You can still get fired up over Kiwi losses to the Aussies, but don’t let the ingenuity of your business be one of them.

Freeparking is New Zealand’s most popular provider of domain names, web hosting, e-mail and e-commerce solutions. With Freeparking you have peace of mind knowing that you are dealing with a respected name in the industry since 2000. As a result customers receive timely and helpful service from technicians who care about assisting them with their online goals.
