Cool Deals launches site for online bargain hunters
Aiming to be New Zealand’s first choice online marketplace for bargain products Cool Deals formally launched its services today. (1 march)
Offering products typically priced 30%-40% below the normal market rates www.cooldeals.co.nz provides buyers with good quality bargain priced consumer and business products.
Managing Director Tony Kunowski said that Cool Deal’s vision was to become New Zealand’s leading online marketplace for bargain products. “Our priority in the next few months is to reach critical mass before we add some new features to further enhance its service capabilities”.
Products represent a wide range of merchants who are prepared to offer significant discounts to sell excess or run-out stock or just one-off “specials,” he said.
“We’re excited to have top brands from reputable merchants. We’re definitely not the $2 shop online”.
Brands such as Hewlett Packard, Konica, Microsoft, Oki, Roleez, Perreaux and Focal back up Kunowski’s claim. “That’s why we call ourselves ‘the bargain-hunters’ paradise’” he said. “Buyers can fill their shopping cart with multiple purchases from multiple merchants and include all shipping charges in a single transaction.”
Unlike other online malls Cool Deals operates entirely on a commission basis. There are no joining, monthly or listing fees.
“We’re a 100% performance based system. We provide merchants with a zero risk, zero fixed cost, country-wide marketing channel. A local retailer can have a national presence overnight through Cool Deals” Kunowski said.
Although the site offers large discounts, this does not mean that the products are necessarily cheap.
“Some merchants are offering 30% plus discounts on items valued over $100,000, so we’ve had to create a Luxury Items category and introduce a bank transfer payment option”.
Corporate Consumables, a national distributor of printers, faxes, computers and accessories, was an early adopter of the Cool Deals model.
“For us it was a no-brainer”, Corporate Consumables Business Manager Chris Thorley said. “It provides an extra and high-volume channel that targets our customer segments and we only pay when we sell stuff - it’s brilliant”.
