Cognition Consulting to Feature at Leading International Conference
NEW ZEALAND, Tuesday, 29 May 2007: Cognition Consulting Limited is set to take its place alongside other leading international educational consultancies and academic institutions at the British Educational Research (BERA) Conference, held at the Institute of Education (IoE), University of London, 3 to 8 September, 2007.
Cognition Consultant, Dr. Lorrae Ward, will present a research paper on ‘The impact of Teacher Leadership on Professional Practice and Schools’ at the conference and will address attendees at the conference about the implications of Cognition Consulting’s work. This is testimony to the reputation Cognition Consulting has created on the global stage since launching last year and Dr. Lorrae is one of only a handful of New Zealand consultants presenting at the conference, which will attract thousands of delegates.
“In New Zealand teachers are given leadership roles to initiate change but it’s an area fraught with difficulty because they often don’t like being seen as leaders over their peers and have issues securing the necessary authority to get things done,” she says.
“The paper I’ll be presenting will highlight some of the ways this can be addressed and the implications it has for other educational systems around the world. It will also reaffirm Cognition Consulting’s strong position as a leader within the education sector,” she adds.
BERA is committed to promoting high quality research and
the understanding and improvement of education. Dr. Lorrae
Ward will lineup alongside key note speakers such as Herbert
W Marsh, from the University of Oxford, who will speak on
‘Self-Concept: Theory, Measurement and Multi-method
Quantitative Research into Practice’.
Other keynote
speakers include Stephen Ball, from the Institute of
Education, University of London, on ‘Privatising
Education, Privatizing Education Policy, Privatising
Educational Research’ and Susan Groundwater-Smith, from
the Universities of Sydney and Liverpool Hope, who will
present an address on ‘Practitioner Researchers: Today's
Children of Mother Courage’.
