John Palmer appointed to AMP Limited Board

AMP Limited Chairman Peter Mason today announced the appointment of John Palmer as a non-executive Director to the AMP Limited Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Mr Mason said that Mr Palmer, who is based in New Zealand, would bring to the Board an extensive range of commercial experience at both executive and non-executive level.

“John will bring new insights and perspectives to the Board of Directors at a time of continued growth and change in the financial services industry,” Mr Mason said.

“The Board is particularly pleased to appoint a New Zealander to the Board, given our strong heritage in that market.”

Mr Palmer currently sits on the AMP Life Board, a position he has held since May 2004. He was previously a Director on the AMP Bank Board (from 1998-2003).

His other external Board positions include the Chairmanship of Air New Zealand Limited, Director of Rabobank Australia Limited and Chairman of Solid Energy NZ Limited.

He has received a number of awards and recognition for his achievements, including as an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for service to the New Zealand kiwifruit industry.

After the appointment of Mr Palmer, the AMP Limited Board will comprise seven non-executive Directors and one executive Director.
