MEDIA RELEASE

Novotel Gardens Queenstown appoints first Director of Sales and Marketing

A rapidly expanding Queenstown hotel has appointed its first ever Director of Sales and Marketing.

Novotel Gardens Queenstown, which will be officially Queenstown’s largest accommodation provider when its $11.5 million refurbishment launches in January, has appointed Stephanie Newport to the new role.

Stephanie comes from local multi-award winning company Nomad Safaris, where she has been Business Development Manager for the past two and a half years.

Novotel Gardens General Manager Carl Braddock says with the expansion of the hotel and investment in this lakefront property, Stephanie will be a key strategic team member based there.

“Now is perfect time to bring Stephanie on board. We’re on track for completion of major renovations to the hotel’s restaurant, bar and public areas, and now’s the time to develop new business markets.

“Stephanie’s strong business development and communication skills, in-depth knowledge of the domestic and international market, and experience in the tourism and hotel industries makes her a key contributor to taking the hotel to the next level.

“She will drive our brand redevelopment and collateral and promote our new food and beverage facilities. Her role will also include developing a new conference and incentives programme promoting the Novotel as an intimate venue for conferences of up to 40 people,” says Mr Braddock.

Stephanie says it’s an exciting time to be joining the Novotel team in such a challenging new role.

“I’m looking forward to being part of the re-launch of the hotel and bringing my experience in the conference and incentives market to the property – there are some great new facilities that we’ll be able to market well.

“The new rooms look fantastic and I believe that combined with the rest of the renovations and the hotel’s location, this will set us apart from other properties.”

Novotel’s development, which started in October 2006, is on target to be completed by January 2008. The additional 70 rooms will mean the hotel has 274 rooms on offer and can cater for up to 548 guests -- a 34% increase in potential guest numbers.
