Animates to opens its 14th store – in Albany

Media release – December 6, 2007

NZ’s biggest pet store chain Animates to opens its 14th store – in Albany

Animates, New Zealand’s biggest pet store chain, will open its doors on its latest new store in Albany next month.

The 14th store under the Animates umbrella will open at the Albany Mega Centre on December 7.

Also five Jansen stores in Auckland - Botany Downs, Mt Eden, North Shore, Henderson and Silverdale – will be rebranded to the Animates stable in February.

Animates other stores are in Christchurch (3), Wellington (2), Tauranga, Palmerston North and Hamilton. The expanded private company employs more than 200 people.

Animates general manager Richard Bowker said the Albany store’s opening reflected Animates’ strategy to increase its expansion into Auckland.

``By the end of the financial year we will have six of our 14 stores in Auckland. There is a real demand there.’’

``The recent merging of the two companies – Animates and Jansens - has provided us with a lot of experience. Our stores are spread throughout the country and we are offering better specials for their customers.

`` We will continue our growth and expansion and our service to NZ pet owners next year.’’

Animates are now the biggest pet store chain in New Zealand.
