Auckland-Brisbane fliers experience new comfort

News Release, 7 February 2008

Auckland-Brisbane fliers now able to experience new Emirates
Business Class comfort

Travellers on Emirates' latest Boeing 777-300ER flying on the airline's Auckland-Brisbane-Dubai service from this week became the first in New Zealand to experience the airline's premium lie-flat seats in Business Class.

One of the most advanced in the skies, the aircraft offers superior advantages such as Emirates' fully lie-flat massage beds in Business and First Class, as well as Emirates' award winning 1,000-channel information, communications and entertainment system (known as ice).

The arrival of the new Boeing 777-300ER on the Brisbane route heralds the first in a series of major events for Emirates in Queensland this year. Auckland premium customers can also experience a new airport lounge at Brisbane to be launched by Emirates next month, and for those making a stopover in Brisbane en route to Dubai or elsewhere, there will also be the choice of a second daily Brisbane-Dubai service introduced in October.

Emirates' New Zealand manager Chris Lethbridge sees the developments as a major plus.

"The Brisbane route is very popular with our Auckland customers and these improvements will make their trip even more pleasurable," he said. "Our sizeable band of regular business and first class travellers, in particular, will notice the difference in inflight entertainment and both airport and inflight comfort that these enhancements will bring.

"We are committing the latest technology to the Brisbane route - our aircraft will be more efficient to operate and better for the environment.

"All of this comes in addition to the full-service meals and wines that we offer on all of our four daily services from New Zealand to Dubai and beyond, via Australia."

Especially appointed and equipped to Emirates' exacting standards, the state-of-the-art 777-300ER includes 12 forward facing flat bed massage seats in First Class, separated by wide isles in a 2-2-2 configuration.

Business Class travellers will also experience the lie-flat massage seats with a 72in pitch that reclines to form a 78in lie-flat bed and ample room for taller passengers. The aircraft features an Integrated passenger seat controller (touch screen) for controlling massager, privacy partition, backrest recline, seat pan extension, footrest extension, leg rest extension and lumbar support.

Economy passengers will also experience ergonomically designed seats, extra legroom and superior service to ensure that Emirates' Economy class travel stands out from the competition.

In July 2008, a further advancement of in-flight product will be available to Brisbane travellers, with the introduction of eight enhanced First Class suites on the route.
