McDonald’s becomes one-stop chicken shop

Customers at McDonald’s now have more chicken choices than ever before with the addition of three exciting new items to their chicken menu, all made with locally produced, 100 per cent chicken breast fillets.

The new items, which will join four new premium chicken burgers launched in February, include Chicken Tenders, the Crispy Chicken Snack Wrap and the Seared Chicken Snack Wrap.

McDonald’s Director of Marketing, Justin Watson, says the company is excited about the new chicken offerings, with restaurants now able to offer their customers an even more extensive chicken range.

”We have had an overwhelming response to our new crispy and seared chicken burgers and we’ll continue to ensure our chicken products offered are only of the highest quality. We are fast becoming a credible and desirable chicken destination for all Kiwis who love chicken,” says Mr Watson.

“Chicken fans love the 100 per cent chicken breast fillet, and now they can choose from wraps and tenders as well – we really have become a one-stop chicken shop!”

According to Watson, one of the key initiatives that still sets McDonald’s apart from their competitors is the oil they use to cook their food in. While others continue to use oils high in saturated fat, McDonald’s uses a blend of canola and sunflower oil which contains less than 10 per cent saturated fat and less than one per cent trans fat, making it a healthier way to fry.

“We will keep offering our customers more and more choice, not only by extending our ranges, but also by the way our food is cooked – people who come to our restaurants get to choose whether they would like their chicken crispy (fried) or seared (on a hot plate to lock in the flavour),” he says.

A perfect bite as a snack or lighter lunch, the new snack wraps are made with a soft tortilla and give customers the option to choose from crispy or seared 100 per cent chicken breast fillets. The snack wraps also include crisp iceberg lettuce and mayonnaise.

The Seared Chicken Snack Wrap is a new addition to the McDonald’s Lighter Choices menu with less than nine grams of fat per serve.

With McDonald’s Made To Order platform customers can also personalise their wrap to suit their taste by adding ingredients such as tomato or cheese.

The Chicken Tenders are a pack of three 100 per cent chicken breast tenderloins. The Chicken tenders come with a choice of three delicious flavoured dipping sauces including Creamy Ranch, Tangy Plum or Honey Mustard.

The Crispy Chicken Snack Wrap and the Seared Chicken Snack Wrap will sell for only $2.90 each or $5.00 for a medium combo. The Chicken Tenders are just $4.90 each or $6.90 for a medium combo.
