New magazine offers better deal for NZ home owners

NEWS RELEASE

Monday 5 May 2008

New property magazine offers better deal for NZ home owners

The real estate industry has a new advertising magazine which is about to be delivered free into homes around the country - and available around the world via the Internet.

PropertyBook will showcase New Zealand's residential and commercial properties in a glossy weekly printed tabloid.

The publication is also promising an innovative online version aimed at local and international buyers.

Produced by Empire Publishing, PropertyBook will launch today (May 5) with a major advertising campaign in Auckland.

The first copies of the weekly magazine will be delivered to nearly 80,000 homes in central Auckland on May 29. More than 65,000 homes on Auckland's North Shore will get their local version from June 5.

PropertyBook will eventually be published in multiple regional editions and delivered to more than half a million homes all over New Zealand.

Overseeing the new launch is Empire Publishing director Simon Herbert - a successful property investor and former property lawyer.

Mr Herbert is best known as the man behind the planned multimillion dollar redevelopment of Bayswater Marina on Auckland's North Shore.

He says there has been a gaping hole in the advertising market because current print offerings do not provide property advertisers with a web presence.

"We will be unveiling a purpose-built digital platform offering unrivalled value for money," he says.

"The website - propertybook.co.nz - will be cool and convenient. Buyers can register to receive weekly email updates hot off the press. By using our website, they can monitor the latest listings even before print delivery."

Visitors who view PropertyBook's online ads will also be able to click through to agency advertisers' own sites.

Mr Herbert says PropertyBook has been many months in planning. The timing for the launch was brought forward after rival Property Press recently announced it was ending deliveries to Auckland and North Shore homes.

"The housing market is facing a challenging time right now. The way vendors and agents advertise their properties is more important than ever."

"The arrival of PropertyBook is great news for anyone wanting more value for money from their advertising dollar. It will be welcomed by anyone looking to buy or sell a home in New Zealand."

Auckland real estate agents have already signalled strong support for a new initiative.

Empire Publishing recently surveyed hundreds of agents. On Auckland's North Shore alone, nine out of ten respondents (90%) agreed they would consider moving their current print advertising to a new arrival.

The PropertyBook website is expected to be live from May 27.
