Online rewards system puts more heat on travel agents
Auckland, 6 May – Global online accommodation specialist HotelClub has upped the ante in the battle for online accommodation bookings, offering travelers a rebate of up eight percent on website bookings.
With over five million members worldwide, HotelClub first launched a free membership rewards programme in 2002, but this year increased booking rebates, as it looks to attract people still using travel agents and those hungry for rewards.
The new rewards programme, called DreamClub, offers Silver, Gold and Platinum membership based on HotelClub booking history. Platinum members – HotelClub’s heaviest users – can earn rebates of up to eight percent of the value of bookings, which can be put towards new HotelClub bookings.
Katherine Birch, HotelClub Country Manager Australia and New Zealand, said that while online accommodation booking websites have for some time allowed consumers to directly source and book hotel accommodation, price is no longer the sole benefit. “Travellers now stand to gain significant rewards for repeat business.”
Existing HotelClub.com, RatesToGo.com, Asia-Hotels.com and Accomline.com members are automatically upgraded to DreamClub and can redeem their rewards at any of the group’s 45,000 affiliated hotels.
