Media Release

Rising star in top spot in Harcourts’ Wellington region

9 May 2008: Rising New Zealand real estate industry star Glenn Green was today named the Number One Sales Consultant in Harcourts Wellington region for the 2007/08 financial year, achieving the region’s top honour for the second year in a row.

Mr Green, who is based at Harcourts Bell Block office in Taranaki, joined Harcourts in 2000 aged just 20. Having initially worked as an assistant to his successful sales consultant mother Lynn, he has successfully grown his own business since then - last year being named number four in New Zealand’s largest real estate group and ninth internationally in the Harcourts group.

Born and bred in Taranaki the 28-year-old was honoured by his peers today at an end of year awards function held at the Duxton Hotel Wellington and attended by around 200 people.

At the function Harcourts also announced that Mary Greig-Clayton from Harcourts Eastbourne and Tony Bailey from Harcourts Hastings were number two and three respectively in Harcourts Wellington region in the year ended 31 March 2008. Mr Bailey was also named Harcourts Top Rural Sales Consultant in the region, while Bruce Woodhead from Harcourts New Plymouth was named Harcourts Top Commercial Sales Consultant in the Wellington region and Mike Maurice from Harcourts Lower Hutt was named Rookie of the Year.

Harcourts New Zealand CEO Bryan Thomson says Mr Green’s passion and drive have been crucial to his success.

“Glenn’s passion for real estate was evident from the start of his career. Combined with his enthusiasm and drive plus his professional approach and winning personality it’s not surprising he’s doing so well in the industry.

“His energy and his commitment to achieving results is exceptional,” he says.

Mr Thomson believes Mr Green is an excellent role model for young people considering a career in real estate. “He’s living proof that if you’ve got the right skills, you believe in yourself and you put the hard work in that rewards can follow for younger people in this industry.”

Mr Green, who is also a sponsored surfer, says he is overjoyed to have secured number one status in his region for the second time.

“I’m always trying to work smarter and be a step ahead of the rest in addition to doing the basics well, so it’s a lot of hard work. But as this result shows, hard word does indeed pay off.”

In addition to working hard Mr Green also attributes his success to his up-front, honest and professional approach and to the total commitment he gives to his job and his clients.

“Having a great team supporting me and making the most of Harcourts marketing and technology systems is also crucial.”

Harcourts Wellington region encompasses Taranaki, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, Wanganui and the Wairarapa plus parts of the Central Plateau and East Coast districts. There are approximately 350 Harcourts sales consultants in this region.

Today’s Wellington Region End of Year Awards was the last of four regional awards functions Harcourts held around the country this week prior to the group’s highly anticipated National Awards function at the company’s Annual Conference, which this year is being held in Christchurch from 26 – 28 May.
