Inland Revenue wins People's Choice NetGuide award

Inland Revenue wins People's Choice NetGuide web award for second time

Inland Revenue has been voted best government site in the annual People's Choice NetGuide Web Awards for the second time in three years.

The NetGuide Awards are New Zealand's premier prizes for excellence on the Web and this year a record number of more than 70,000 votes were cast.
"This award means a great deal to us because it is voted on by Internet users,'' said Acting Deputy Commissioner Business Development & Systems, David Udy.

''We are delighted to win this award again, given our strong commitment to making it easy for customers to get the services and information they need.''
Comments from voters about the Inland Revenue website included praise for its ease of navigation, positive remarks about being able to do so much online, the volume of useful information and forms available, and the helpfulness it provided to small businesspeople when doing accounts in the evening.

The government category is defined as the best, most helpful New Zealand-based site providing information and services pertaining to matters of government, local government or government agencies. Inland Revenue won the category in 2006 and 2008, and was a finalist in 2007.

Mr Udy said that Inland Revenue was strongly focussed on enabling customers to transact more and more of their business online.
The NetGuide Award follows Inland Revenue's recent win in the government category of this year's Hitwise website awards, which recognise the most visited websites in New Zealand.
