Electronic Ticketing With All Interline Partners

Singapore Airlines Achieves Electronic Ticketing With All Interline Partners

Singapore Airlines customers, including those whose journeys involve connections with any of the airline’s 138 interline partners, will now be issued with just a single e-ticket for their entire journey. This has been made possible by the airline’s successful implementation of Electronic Ticketing (ET) issuance at all its 66 airports and ET arrangements with all its 138 interline partners.

According to an IATA Interline ET (IET) status report issued 16 May 2008, Singapore Airlines is ranked second in the overall industry, in terms of number of interline ET partners. Singapore Airlines is also among the first few airlines in the industry to have implemented IET with all its interline partners.

IET enables a customer to travel to destinations on multiple airlines using just a single ET, doing away with the need for multiple e-tickets or a combined paper ticket. An IET arrangement between airlines is required for them to accept each other’s e-tickets.

Singapore Airlines ceased issuing paper tickets on 1 May 2008. This means that customers no longer have to collect paper tickets when they make a ticket purchase via any of its sales channels: the airline’s website (singaporeair.com); its sales/ticketing offices; or its appointed travel agents.

“Electronic Ticketing provides greater flexibility and convenience to our customers,” said Huang Cheng Eng, Executive Vice-President (Marketing and the Regions).

“With e-tickets, a customer’s travel itinerary and information are maintained electronically in airlines’ reservations system. This makes it easier for customers to change their itineraries and eliminates the concern of lost tickets.”

Customers who make their bookings online at singaporeair.com will receive their ETs at their preferred email address. They may then access the “My Bookings” portal on singaporeair.com at their own time and convenience to select their seats, meals or even change their itineraries.

With their ETs, they may then check-in for their flights (up to forty-eight hours in advance) and print out the 2D boarding passes in the comfort of their home or office.

All this with just a few clicks of the mouse, before going to the airport.
