AUT Media mag Idealog scoops MPAs

Idealog has been named Business Magazine of the Year at the annual New Zealand Magazine Awards, organised by the Magazine Publishers' Association (MPA).

This is the second year Idealog, published by AUT Media, has won the top prize for a business magazine at the MPA Awards.

Idealog also collected the 2008 MPA awards for:

- Business Editor of the Year - Matt Cooney - Business Designer of the Year - Adrian Clapperton - Business Website of the Year (Highly Commended)

"Our readers already know it - and so do our advertisers - but it sure is nice to have our peers recognise that we're publishing high quality, successful products," says publisher Vincent Heeringa.

The awards have topped off a terrific year for Idealog.

It was recently awarded "Best Feature Website and Best Arts Columnist (Hamish Coney) at the 2008 Qantas Media Awards. It was also a finalist for Best Magazine Trade and Professional.

"Our web traffic is growing at double-digit rates, our print advertising has grown, despite the tough economic conditions, and subscriptions are growing slowly, but steadily. The awards recognise this success," says Heeringa.

A magazine devoted to business innovation, Idealog has also increased its range of business activities. In the last year it relaunched its website, launched a quarterly event series - the AUT Idealog Innovation Series Plus - and added new sponsors to its stable of supporters, including IBM and Zenago.

Soon it will be adding Idealog TV to its website and launching a new sub-brand devoted to business sustainability.
