Finalists chosen for ENZ Canterbury Export Awards

Finalists chosen for ENZ Canterbury Export Awards 2008

Media Release 16 June 2008

South Island exporters send the best of New Zealand goods around the globe. This is proven again this year in the quality of finalists for the Export NZ Canterbury Export Awards 2008.

The Awards celebrate South Islanders’ hard work and creativity as they overcome large and small obstacles to run successful export operations. For the second year running, the Awards have attracted a record number of entrants demonstrating the South Island’s excellence in exporting.

“It’s never easy to export but our finalists just buckle down, get the job done and do it well,” said Kellee Berry, executive officer for the Canterbury Region, which encompasses the South Island. “The judges were impressed with the quality of the entrants and their innovation in entering offshore markets.”

“We’re thrilled to have broken last year’s record with another record year of entries,” Mrs Berry said.

Six awards for excellence will be presented at the Christchurch Convention Centre on Wednesday 30 July. The Centre will be transformed for the evening to reflect the distinction of our exporters’ achievements. Gary McCormick will host the evening to be attended by an array of South Island business leaders. Teleimage will help showcase the finalists during the evening.

Finalists for The Solid Energy Canterbury Emerging Exporter of the Year Award are Particle Systems Limited, business software producer, and The XS Group Ltd, advanced technical sportswear manufacturer.
