Telecom NZ Appoints Group General Counsel

Telecom CEO Paul Reynolds today announced that Tristan Gilbertson has been appointed Group General Counsel, effective from 28 July.

Mr Gilbertson is a highly experienced corporate lawyer who has held senior leadership roles in Australia, England and Japan.

“I’m delighted that Tristan is joining us. He understands the challenges of sustaining business growth in complex regulatory environments,” Telecom CEO Paul Reynolds said.

“He brings deep insight into the telecommunications industry, with several years of experience as a senior legal adviser and in-house Counsel to companies such as Vodafone, Telstra and Cable and Wireless.”

Mr Gilbertson is a recognised international expert on telecommunications law and regulation.

“Tristan’s international experience and his commercial, strategic approach will be a valuable addition to Telecom’s executive team at a time of profound change for our company and the industry in New Zealand,” Dr Reynolds said.

Mr Gilbertson’s appointment completes the Telecom Executive line-up: Matt Crockett (Telecom Wholesale), Alan Gourdie (Retail), Russ Houlden (CFO), Trisha McEwan (Human Resources), Frank Mount (Chief Transformation Officer), Chris Quin (Gen-i), Mark Ratcliffe (Chorus), and Rod Snodgrass (Strategy).

This will be a return to New Zealand for Mr Gilbertson who was born and educated here. He will be based in Auckland, and commences his new role on 28 July.
