Orcon named Telecommunications Carrier of the year

Orcon has been named Telecommunications Carrier of the Year, stepping up the company’s challenge to the industry’s status quo.

“We might be the new boys on the block, but we’ve beaten off the big telecoms companies to take out the industry’s top award for 2008,” says Orcon CEO Scott Bartlett.

Orcon was last night announced as Telecommunications Carrier of the Year for 2008 at the annual TUANZ awards in Auckland after taking out the award for Internet Service Provider of the Year in both 2006 and 2007.

Finalists for the Carrier award included many of the country’s largest telecoms providers.

“This is award is the big one, and for Orcon it signals that we’ve not only come of age, we’re delivering on our promise to focus on customers,” Mr Bartlett says.

“This gong is for the amazing team at Orcon. Dedicated, hard working and passionate people who do everything they can to delight and amaze our customers. You can have all the best technical bits and pieces in the world but when it comes down to it it is the people that make all the difference.

“To be recognised as the best is what makes this so special. Orcon will continue to shake up things in the industry, continue to innovate and persist on doing things differently.”
