Print Conference Promises Sales-Boosting Tips

Print NZ media release (September 2008) -- Ink in Our Veins Conference

Print Conference Promises Sales-Boosting Tips

An invaluable insight to improving both print selling techniques and profitability will be provided by speakers at next month’s Ink in Our Veins annual printing industry conference.

Being hosted by PrintNZ at Wairakei near Taupo from October 13-15, the centenary conference will feature seminars on how successful printing companies find profitability as well as top negotiating techniques from keynote speaker Robert McClements. In addition John Lees will run a half day session on how to progress from order-taker to sales-maker.

This information should prove extremely beneficial to New Zealand printers as they strive to maximise competitiveness in a market where purse strings are tightening and talk of an economic recession is rife.

Mr McClements is the managing director of Grange Consulting and founding chief executive of PrintYorkshire -- a partnership between the Regional Development Agency and British Printing Industries Federation.

He has been involved in a broad range of print companies in screen printing, lithography and newspapers and spent 10 years with Allied Domecq plc culminating in the role of managing director of two subsidiary companies. His international experience includes contract negotiation and joint ventures in Europe and the Middle East.

Mr Lees and his team built the Schwarzkopf brand in Australia and New Zealand and created the most successful operations for that company worldwide in terms of market share and profitability.

Having spent six years representing Schwarzkopf in international markets, Mr Lees now runs his own consulting firm, is a member of the Institute of Management Consultants and he is also the author of 11 books on business development.

Mr McClements’ seminars will take place from 10.40am-11.40am on the Tuesday and 11.40am-12.30pm on the Wednesday with Mr Lees speaking between 2.00pm-5.30pm on the Tuesday.

Delegates from all around New Zealand are expected to attend the Ink In Our Veins conference, representing all sectors of the New Zealand print industry. Places are still available for the conference sessions and for the golf and fishing trips planned for Monday October 13, but people are urged to make their bookings as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment.
