DraftFCB Wins Three Gold at 2008 CAANZ EFFIE Awards

Agency of the Year, DraftFCB won three golds at the 2008 CAANZ EFFIE Awards last night.

It was the only agency to win Gold for all its finalist nominations at the CAANZ EFFIE Awards showing the agency continues to develop great ideas that achieve real results.

DraftFCB CEO, Bryan Crawford says “Receiving three gold awards at this year’s 2008 CAANZ EFFIE Awards is another highlight of the year for our agency. Taking home the much sought after GRAND EFFIE award was very satisfying and again emphasised why we are Agency of the Year.”

The gold icing on the cake was winning the coveted GRAND EFFIE AWARD for SUSTAINED SUCCESS for the Ministry of Health with its ‘Like Minds’ and NDI campaigns. These were designed to change the way New Zealanders view and treat people with mental illness.

Another success of the night was winning gold in RETAIL/ETAIL for its advertising campaign ‘Cut to the Chase’ Bond+Bond, which resulted in a significant increase in sales for the electronics retailer, despite the appliance retail category declining.

Mint General Manager, Justin Mowday says of the results, “It’s great to see Bond+Bond recognized for this campaign. It was a bold move to go against the category conventions, by having a personality, entertaining people, talking about more than price and trying something new, but it has paid off for them.”

“This is further evidence that consumers respond best to communication that entertains them, rather than shouts at them. I’ve always believed just because it is a retail ad it doesn’t mean it should be devoid of an idea; in fact it’s even more important to engage people with something that stands out, is relevant to them and is memorable.”

DraftFCB also took home a gold SOCIAL MARKETING/PUBLIC SERVICE award for the National Depression Initiative with The Lowdown, a leading edge multimedia website DraftFCB designed to help reduce the impact of depression on youth by encouraging them to seek help.
