Fertco boosts its organic credentials

Fertco has strengthened its focus on environmental sustainability with a new organic range of fertiliser products available throughout the North Island.

The company has added a new Bio-Gro certified fertiliser range to its established Dicalcic Phosphate products to enable organic farmers to purchase the best available products from the one supplier.

Fertco General Manager Warwick Voyce says Fertco has Bio-Gro registration allowing it to store and blend products at its Mount Maunganui facility, and it tested these systems and procedures by supplying the Bay of Plenty horticultural market throughout the spring.

‘We are very happy with the way things have progressed’, Warwick says, ‘and we are now ready to go to the wider agricultural market throughout the North Island.

‘We have the products, the people and the procedures and are looking forward to providing organic farmers with a superior level of fertiliser supply and service.’

Following an extensive global and nationwide search, Fertco has sourced an excellent range of products and is proud to make them available to the New Zealand market.

‘We have found some excellent products including a bat guano from Asia with high phosphate content and good solubility. It’s granular for easy spreading.

‘During our research we also received feedback that many farmers found the process of purchasing organic fertilisers somewhat difficult as there was no ‘one-stop shop’ where they could get all they needed through a single supplier.

‘It was obvious to us that Fertco should offer this service.’

Fertco are looking for additional feedback from the Organic sector, visit their website to complete an online survey and you will go into the draw to win $500 worth of organic product.

Farmers can contact Fertco toll free on 0508 FERTCO, or via www.fertco.co.nz
